Thank you to The Carey School, Burlingame Intermediate School,
and all the players and tennis families for another great year!
We love coaching The Carey School's after-school program, and the BIS boys and girls middle school teams!
Thank you for the opportunity to "serve" you and your families!
Wishing our staff and players continued success!
Welcome to Peninsula Tennis Academy, the Bay area's premier tennis instruction academy, offering dynamic classes for all ages and skill levels in the Burlingame, Hillsborough, San Mateo, Millbrae, San Bruno, and South San Francisco areas.
We specialize in offering small group lessons, with a limited number of players on the court, in order to provide maximum individualized instruction time.
Using a cooperative coaching philosophy, we communicate with players and parents to set realistic goals, make decisions together and discuss technical aspects of the player's game as we work on skill development, strategy and tactics through a games based, situational approach.
We also serve players who need more specialized attention during lessons. Players who are differently-abled, have autism, ADHD, or who just need a little more specialized attention due to focus or family issues
are encouraged to join.
We follow the USTA recommended method of teaching, which means that we use lower nets, smaller courts and lower compression balls for players
age 10 and under.
Because young players don’t run as fast as older athletes, a smaller court size makes the game more manageable. Using low compression balls means a lower and slower bounce, which results in more hits and scoring opportunities.
The overall effect is a much faster learning curve and greater love of the game.
We acknowledge and reward progression of skills,
and we work with parents and players to make
tournament plans, if players want to test their game in a more competitive environment.

Born and raised in Paris, France, Mylene took up tennis
around 2 or 3 years old. Most of her family played, so she decided to try it. She fell in love with the game right
away and never put down the racquet.
Mylene was in the top 10 in France in Juniors tennis and participated in the top national and international tournaments. She qualified for the prestigious “Les Petits As” at 14 years
old and played in “La Baule,” and several ITF
tournaments when she was 17 years old.
Mylene then moved to the United States to play for four years at the University of San Francisco, where she started at number 5 and ended at number 2. She played singles and doubles
all four years and earned All-WCC Second Team Singles
two years in a row.
After her NCAA career, she started coaching at the Bay Club Redwood Shores, then coached for a year and a half at the California Tennis Club. She also coached summer camps at the University of San Francisco and at the Silicon Valley Tennis Academy. She has experience working with
junior and adult players.
In 2016, she joined the USTA NorCal in their marketing department to help grow the game of tennis. She continued to be in close contact with junior and adult players
and joined in on a few clinics.
Myelne is excited to be back on court and help you succeed in tennis, no matter what your goal is!

past 12 years, playing one and two Singles and Doubles throughout high school and college.

on her academic journey!
Originally from a small town on the east coast, the Bay Area has become Steve's home. Steve began his athletic career as a soccer and basketball fanatic, but he instantly fell in love with tennis after following in older brother in JV tennis try-outs.
Steve has an NTRP rating of 5.5 and honed his tennis skills at various local tennis academies, particularly with tennis mentors Sonny Mayer and Jim Neal. He played as #1 singles on the Varsity high school tennis team and was eventually recruited to play in college, where he played as #3 singles and #2 doubles at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
During summers, he worked as the lead tennis instructor for his town's local tennis program, where he worked with players of all ages and skill levels. Steve is currently studying for his UPSTA certification. His coaching focuses on providing a
fun atmosphere to teach solid fundamentals. Steve is
always open to discuss and innovate new ways to improve, both physically and mentally.
Off the court, Steve is an avid amateur cook and enjoys experimenting with new recipes. One day, he hopes to meet Gordon Ramsey, and even appear on MasterChef!
Steve is so happy to have found his home in the Bay and can't wait to work with you on your tennis goals and skills.

Players enjoyed practicing their sportsmanship and tennis skills in a fun and friendly environment during our most recent semi-annual Fall Red Ball Tournament.
The tournament gave our young athletes an opportunity to play in a slightly more competitive environment than weekly lessons provide.
Players enjoyed playing hard, getting sweaty, and earning their trophies.
In order to keep the focus on friendly competition and sports and life skills, instead of trophies for Most Matches Won, trophies were awarded for Most Effort, Most Encouraging, Most Adaptable, Best Communicator, Kindest, Most Enthusiasm
and Best Strategy.
Come see us in action at Ray Park or Washington Park in Burlingame- feel free to watch a lesson and even join in! Check our calendar above for class days and times (please call ahead of time so that we can confirm that the class you are interested in previewing is meeting that week).
New classes are always forming, so if you don't see a class day and time that works for your schedule, contact us and we'll start a new class!
